Don't Call It Spring Until May

I have more to blog from the New Zealand expedition, along with notes from travels in South Dakota, but right now, some notes from the home place.

As spring progresses I like to jot down arrivals and developments. Often, given work and travel schedules, this happens on Sunday.

Sunday 19 March: redwing blackbirds returned to Willow Creek.

Sunday 26 March: wood ducks returned to Willow Creek.

Sunday 3 April: three robins in our yard, and a turtle dove at the feeder.

Wednesday evening 6 April: heard the first frog in Willow Creek. Winter garlic in the garden making a great showing. Rhubarb bulbous.

Saturday night 9 April: frogs in full chorus. Rhubarb leafing out.

Sunday 10 April: killdeers along the West Fargo floodway.

Sunday 17 April: meadowlarks.
