Whiskey Sauce (for Steak)
Ingredients
- Oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup catsup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup bourbon

Just a coincidence: I was down in Brookings, where I looked over the Harvey Dunn collection, and read about how Dunn would invite students up for steaks and make a bourbon sauce for them. As soon as I got home, there was my home town paper, the Ellinwood Leader, and George Martin's cooking column, "Cooking Stones," had this recipe for whiskey sauce. Spread this on the broiling steaks.
- Cook the onions in just a little oil.
- Add the other ingredients and cook until a little thickened.
